Job Posting Title: Manager, District, Customs Compliance
Time Type: Full TimeDSV is seeking a Manager of Customs Compliance in the Midwest region.SummaryThis position must be able to plan, coordinate and direct corporate objectives within the prescribed territory for the Customs Brokerage department. The position must ensure customer, internal and government regulatory standards are met through training and enforcement of performance policies and standards. The position will drive the progress of field business initiatives which are designed to ensure revenue growth, customer retention, regulatory adherence, achievement of established KPI's, employee growth and development and operational excellence of the customs brokerage product.General Responsibilitieso Represent the corporate office. Communicate laterally and horizontally in the organization regarding focus and direction of the company and the product group.
o Direct responsibility in setting goals and objectives for our DSV Customs Brokerage Managers.
o Direct responsibility for recruiting and interviewing candidates for any Customs Brokerage Manager's positions within the assigned region.
o Direct responsibility to ensure all employees performing brokerage functions within assigned territory are fully trained to ensure the organization is well positioned to achieve the goals of the company and the product group.
o Act as the first point of contact for any import or brokerage issues for both sales and operations in the region.
o Hold regular and structured meetings within the assigned region to ensure information associated with the product is communicated, understood and fully implemented.
o Represent the company at assigned government conferences and industry organizations.
o Responsible to assist operations, sales and clients as it relates to regulatory and brokerage issues.
o Coordinate and align activities with regional freight forwarding leadership within assigned territory.
o Participate in the creation and reviews of IT requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations for both internal and external customers.
o Coordinate brokerage requirements in support of DSV clients.
o Motivate and develop people through performance management systems.
o Engage with direct reports to ensure the career path is clear for the employees, and that there is a succession plan in place for the brokerage product.
o Lead and manage diverse team through influence and persuasion, often without direct oversight.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance and develop corrective action plans to address deficiencies.
  • Assess potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Monitor risk indicators and implement controls to prevent violations.
  • Foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
  • Investigate allegations of non-compliance and misconduct and take appropriate disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Prepare and submit reports on compliance activities, findings, and recommendations to senior management and regulatory authorities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and business units to address compliance-related issues and initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of compliance professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure efficient workflow and team productivity.
Educational background / Work experience
  • Must possess strong knowledge and understanding of the customs clearance, government regulations security, freight forwarding business and be able to identify areas of operational, financial, and people improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field from an accredited 4 year university program preferred, with at least 7 years experience progressive work experience
  • 10 years industry (brokerage) experience may substitute for the education and experience requirement
  • Must have detailed knowledge of Microsoft desktop applications such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Licensed Customs Broker

Computer Literacy
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with compliance management software and systems for tracking and reporting compliance activities.
For this position, the expected base pay is: $104,500 - $156,000 / Annual.
