Hatcher is excited to welcome interns to join our award-winning Hatcher UX creative team during Summer 2024. The Hatcher Intern Program is designed to provide college students and recent graduates with an opportunity to collaborate on and help execute client projects. In addition to supporting client deliverables, interns will have the opportunity to participate in professional development powered by Hatcher’s dynamic team.The Hatcher UX creative team is seeking students who are ready and willing to learn while enhancing their creative thinking and technical skills to deliver quality work consistently. The ideal candidate will have passion for their field of study and a strong desire to contribute to Hatcher’s work supporting nonprofits, foundations, government agencies, and other mission-driven organizations to educate and motivate people through powerful marketing and communications. The UI/UX Design Intern is expected to be well-organized, self-motivated, and able to multi-task while being team player. College students graduating in 2024 and 2025 are encouraged to apply.All candidates must live within reasonable commuting distance to our Bethesda headquarters location for in-person collaboration on Tuesdays and Thursdays.Additional Details:
  • Program dates: June 3 – July 26, 2024
  • Hourly wage: $20/hr.
  • Hours: Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Understand user needs and organizational goals to inform product feature designs
  • Create flow diagrams, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and UI specifications that adhere to accessibility and mobile-ready guidelines and maintain design consistency and coherence across product
  • Identify and collect quantitative and qualitative resources for testing and discovery workshop sessions
  • Prepare slide decks for internal and client engagement presentations.
  • Web content updates via the WordPress platform
  • Design digital collaterals, including social media and web-based graphics that adhere to graphic standards and brand guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Compelling process-based design portfolio
  • A passion and capacity to advocate user experience to clients and peers
  • Detail-oriented and organizational skills
  • Foundational knowledge of front-end functionality to human-computer interaction
  • Proficiency in Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective observational, listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to take direction, work efficiently with a team, and adhere to tight deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to share and communicate complex concepts
  • Any level of front-end knowledge is a plus (HTML, CSS, and Javascript)
