General Summary of PositionJob Summary:Responsible for operating and maintaining microprocessor-based systems, including air distribution and pneumatic tube. Analyzes specific requirements of system and supplied areas and performs appropriate programming, preventative maintenance, and repairs.Primary Duties:
  • Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs air distribution and pneumatic tube systems including supply and return, exhaust fans, as well as system components such as direct digital and pneumatic controls, firmware, software, and their related end devices.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses engineering plant complications and systems malfunctions. Develops and implements solutions/corrections and maintains and inventories equipment, tools, supplies, mechanical room operating logs and data trends for optimal and efficient performance.
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and casualty prevention work orders. Recommends improvements and modifications as appropriate. Maintains accurate records/logs as required.
  • Develops estimates for a wide variety of repairs to installed equipment in accordance with requirements. Determines the means and methods to be used, estimates time, material(s), and human resources needed, and may be required to secure the appropriate tools/equipment and materials.
  • Programs air distribution, lighting, and Peak Demand Limiting (PDL) to optimize energy conservation and maintain appropriate environment thought the Washington Hospital Center.
  • Inspects and critically evaluates the condition of all system components, work in progress, and completed maintenance ensuring proper standards are met
  • Assists with Class III and Class IV asbestos removal under the guidelines of the Respirator Protection Program.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Trade/vocational school graduate; or equivalent with courses such as chemistry, physics and mathematics exhibiting the ability to read, understand, and interpret equipment manuals, written specifications, written and oral instructions, meters and gages, as well as models/graphic illustrations such as: layout diagrams, blueprints, mechanical and architectural drawings, work sketches, and schematic drawings as well as the ability to detect warning signals and machinery malfunctions required.
  • 1-2 years as a Maintenance Mechanic demonstrating the ability to perform this position and the knowledge of computer operations and programming of mechanical systems required.
  • 5-7 years’ operating and maintaining HVAC and microprocessor based pneumatic tube systems required.
