
Electrical Service Technician

- Must be able to report to assigned job site location on time as directed.
- Maintain and properly store tools and equipment.
- Proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.
- Accurately organize materials and tools in order to maintain clean and neat work area.
- Has ability to erect and understand pulley systems to lift/move heavy objects.
- Must be capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or equipment.
- Accurately read labels, job site maps/directions, manuals and written instructions.
- Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Employee must be able to direct/train helpers & apprentices in proper work practices.
- Must have ability to plan and organize tasks in order to meet task deadlines.
- Ability to visualize completed work prior to installation.
- Must be able to perform accurate layout of electrical systems with code clearances.
- Have skill to accurately install duct banks and understand spacing requirements.
- Able to install panelboards and transformers.
- Understand the Proper use/selection of cables for proper installation per NEC.
- Ability to perform material take-off’s to accurately execute work in a timely manner.
- Must be able to communicate with Customer on issues and solutions.
- Must be able to troubleshoot.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 4 or more years of experience and meets requirements.
- Experience in terminations. (I.e. both aluminum and copper, twisted pair cable, terminating
- Clearly understand and comply with company/job safety requirements. (OSHA).
- Must have ability & knowledge to properly give “hand signals” to operators.
- Knowledge of series circuits, Ohms’s Law, DC Circuits and resistance and its effect.
- Ability to add, subtract, divide and use electrical formulas accurately.
- Knowledge of blueprints/shop drawings, including symbol use.
- Knowledge of use of degrees in bending conduit (i.e. concentric bending.).
- Knowledge of switching procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA requirements.
- Employee must understand and follow the NEC.
- Must have knowledge of: Properly implement grounding practices, Transformer
Circuit Breakers, Motors, Inductance and Capacitance Power factors.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
- Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
- Electrical Journeymen license.
- As required by job assignment.
- Ability to work 12 hours per day, shift work (7am - 7pm and/or 7pm - 7am) and overtime as required with little or on short notice.
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.
- Climbing stairs.
- Job may require working in all elements, depending on location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, and/or wind.
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
- Must wear personnel equipment at all times. (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when needed.
- Light to heavy work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
