UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a Lead Sonographer to join their team of life-changers!In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, the Lead Sonographer coordinates workflow, assists with projects, and coordinates educational activities. This position also functions as a working technologist and distributes workload to ensure efficient operations.This is a full-time position that will work 40 hours per week. The standard schedule will consist of 4, 10-hour shifts, variable hours, and will include rotating weekend and holiday commitments. Experience with ACR accreditation is preferred.   • Leads orientation and training for new hires, students and other medical personnel; ensures competencies are completed in the required time frame. Responsible for offering remediation with sonographers when necessary
  • Performs ultrasound diagnostic examinations in accordance with Level I and Level II Advanced sonographer.
  • Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of sonographer candidates and provides feedback for annual performance reviews.
  • May be responsible for High Level Disinfection of devices, supplies and/or equipment
  • Coordinates daily workflow and schedule of the department while maintaining staffing levels based on, but not limited to, call offs, vacations, patient volumes, and training needs.
  • Assists with quality assurance projects and assists in the development of exam protocols alongside of or in place of advanced sonographers and communicates results back to departmental leadership.
  • Assumes the leadership role in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.
  • 3 years of ultrasound experience required.
  • Performance review consistent with minimum of strong/Solid performance on last performance review.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) required.
  • CPR or BLS Preferred. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
