  • Responsible for managing $10 Million of inventory.
  • Performs highly responsible administrative management work involving planning, programming, and controlling the operations.
  • Emphasis of the work is on application of mature judgment, a high degree of resourcefulness, advanced knowledge of management principles and hospital administration in identifying, analyzing and solving problems; recommending major changes in policy and making decisions covering procedures, staffing and work flow.
  • Exercises general supervision over subordinate area supervisors through review and evaluation of work programs and achievement of goals.
  • Receives general direction from an administrative or professional superior through assistance with more complex problems and policies and evaluation of total program results.
  • Provides direction to a multi-disciplinary, multi-skilled workforce to ensure that services and outcomes comply with standards established by various accrediting, licensing, and other regulatory agencies and Public Health Trust.
  • This position will have a significant role in the administration or preparation of the departments or the organization's budget.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing surgical and medical product inventory in critical patient care areas, namely the Operating Room, Trauma, Central Sterile Services, Cath Lab, Angio Suites, IR and EP, and L&D Departments; the combined FY2012 inventory value for these areas was approximately $10 Million, or 90% of the $11 Million medical / surgical inventory at JMH campus.
  • Maintains adequate levels of inventory, analyzes usage patterns and adjusts PAR levels as required for cost efficiency all-the-while ensuring supply for patient care needs.
  • Maintains relationships and regularly meets with Vendors to ensure supply and discuss opportunities for cost improvements.
  • Manages consigned inventories and coordinates activities among end-user department, Vendors and Procurement to reconcile on quarterly basis.
  • Advises Procurement personnel in the purchasing of alternate products, when necessary.
  • Coordinates the fiscal inventory.
  • Responsible to oversee daily activity of all logistics processes including internal distribution of supplies and equipment, management of inventory, automated dispensing cabinet management, appropriate staging of products for consumption, and product disposition within the hospital.
  • Responsible for management of the OR Perioperative Supply Chain, Sterile Processing and Centralized Equipment Distribution Center.
  • Directs supplies distribution, inventory management and logistics activities and staff for entire hospital.
  • This includes but is not limited to understanding of all work processes and customer requirements for materials that are received.
  • Requires considerable daily interaction with end-user department personnel.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and direction to staff that includes three Supervisors and 40 first-line employees whose work schedules provide 24/7 coverage to clinical end-user departments.
  • Hires, coaches, trains, disciplines and recommends termination of staff as necessary.
  • Develops subordinates to perform these same functions.
  • Provides the leadership to have a competent and satisfied employee group by doing timely performance appraisals, providing development and mentoring of subordinates and staff.

  • Develops and implement necessary compliance policies and procedures, process improvement, training and monitoring activities.

  • Organizes, oversees and leads work efforts as appropriate to insure the best possible delivery of service and high customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Makes and executes decisions within delegated authority.
  • Surfaces issues to management for resolution as appropriate.
  • Participates in resolving issues outside delegated scope of authority.
  • Participate and support hospital strategic initiatives in the areas of customer service improvement, cost reductions, process improvements and other initiatives.
  • Participates in planning, budgeting and general management efforts for the department of which the unit is a part and stays within budget.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the Lawson ERP system, Omni cell Technologies, various technical equipment and apparatus used in administrative, medical and paramedical areas of a large and diversified hospital.
  • Accountable for Supply Chain performance and results.
  • Responsible for quality, functional excellence and contributes to accomplish the strategic and operational objectives.
  • Review, design, and implement processes and procedures to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Initiates and manages expense reduction and process improvement activities.
  • Participates with the Medical staff and other disciplines responsible for patient care to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate appropriate clinical care to meet the needs of the patients within designated service areas.
  • Participates as a member of the Value Analysis Committee.
  • Develops and manages an Emergency Preparedness Plan consistent with Public Health Trust and community-wide emergency preparedness units.
