Interim Senior Manager or Associate Director of Clinical FinanceOur client, a biopharmaceutical company, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager or Associate Director, Clinical Finance to support their clinical programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial strategy and operations of clinical trials at a company with a decentralized, asset-focused model and a diverse pipeline including approved and investigational therapies. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to drive financial discipline and operational efficiency in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.Location:
San Francisco, CA. This role is hybrid, with in-office requirements on Tuesdays and Thursday, however, the client might consider a fully remote candidate.This opportunity will have a duration of 6+ months. This position reports to the Director of R&D Finance.Responsibilities:
  • Support financial strategies and processes aligned with clinical program objectives.
  • Lead clinical financial planning activities including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and long-range planning.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical trial budgets in coordination with Clinical Operations and vendor contracts.
  • Update financial models to support scenario analysis and cost tracking.
  • Partner with Clinical Operations, Accounting, and FP&A to monitor and manage trial-related expenditures.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly financial close processes, including variance analysis.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance accuracy and transparency in clinical financial reporting.
  • Prepare financial summaries and insights for leadership and internal stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • 8–12+ years of experience in FP&A, with a focus on clinical finance in biopharma or healthcare.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA a plus.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial budgeting, CRO/vendor financial management, and site payment processes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, Accounting, and FP&A.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
