Reporting to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging/Cardiopulmonary Services, this position will have accuracy in the performance of electrocardiographic and cardiac stress testing on adult in- and outpatients is provided; some pediatric or adolescent patients may be served. Employee is responsible for all aspects of the ECG / Stress Test laboratory; including patient scheduling, charting, filing, processing, and archival of recordings.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Sets-up, operates, and maintains all non-invasive / diagnostic equipment according to physician order and department procedure. Works efficiently in the stress lab.
  • Maintains a current basic life support card.
  • Anticipates the need for and initiates educational activities to enhance professional practice.
  • Skillfully utilizes, troubleshoots and maintains all equipment pertinent to the diagnostic cardiology patient.
  • Organizes the efficient and effective operation of the stress lab, by assigning job tasks for the personnel of the Cardiology department.

  • Sets-up, operates, and maintains all non-invasive / diagnostic equipment according to physician order and department procedure. Works efficiently in the stress lab.
  • Monitors both patients and equipment during test procedures in order to achieve optimum results.
  • Accurately completes testing information on test reports and graphs.
  • Participates in the decontamination of equipment.
  • Assures adequate levels of disposable supplies and standby equipment for cardiology department.
  • Provides accurate, timely and thorough documentation of all cardiology care services in the patients medical record.
  • Maintains department records in a timely and complete fashion.
  • Provides a thorough shift report regarding the clinical status of patients receiving cardiology testing. Includes pertinent information regarding orders, equipment or supplies to assure efficient operation of the next shift.
  • Participates/attends department meeting, in-services, etc., on a regular basis.
  • Completes appropriate volume of work while maintaining quality standards.
  • Organize work procedures to generate acceptable levels of productivity.
  • Completes own work as required and will assist others as needed.
  • Cooperates with co-workers and management to maintain a harmonious environment.
  • Adjust work schedule to accommodate changing priorities.
  • Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner.
  • Follows established emergency, infection control and/or universal precautions procedures as required.
  • Maintains work area and equipment according to standards and policies.
  • Attends mandatory in-service related to safety and/or infection control.
  • Supports and participates in department quality improvement activities.
  • Provides quality improvements which enhance effectiveness and efficiency of department.
  • Provides courteous service to internal/external customers in all activities.
  • Offers assistance to all internal/external customers as appropriate and/or refers customer to appropriate individual or department.
  • Communicates in a professional manner emphasizing objectively and non-judgmental
  • Assist in solving customer problems in a cooperative manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage patients of all ages with special needs.
  • Facilitates patient/family participation in self-care based on age and development status.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • High school graduate or GED
  • CPR certification.
Preferred:
  • Primary Source Verification: Cardiovascular Credentialing International
  • Certification in Cardiovascular Technology preferred.
