- Researching information on competitive trends, product line trends, producer trends, and external environment, including legal, economic, demographic and distribution trends in accordance with the underwriting strategies and regulatory environment.
- Recommending new and revised products and programs, underwriting standards and procedures, and provide guidance on pricing within the regions.
- Monitoring a consistent underwriting governance framework for the Marine as well as product result and you will develop proposals to maximize profitability, including the review of claims/large losses/trends.
- Drive implementation of underwriting guidelines, rules and principles, conditions, pricing tools and best practice processes and standards.
- Complete business reviews to ensure quality of execution of local underwriting.
- Support the development and implementation of global MSU, UW guidelines, rules & principles, best practice processes & standards.
- Review and support referrals within area of expertise that exceed Product Lead Authority.
- Ensure appropriate training programs are implemented and maintained to develop the level of underwriting expertise needed.
- Support steering of Global Practice Group process, to drive continuous development of UW expertise through practice.
- Proactively manage and steer NatCat exposure (in liaison with CAT Risk Mgmt and NCCSD).
- Carry out qualitative analysis, management of the portfolio incl. profitability analysis (e. g. trades, distribution channels etc.) and KPI reporting.
- Significant experience in Underwriting profitable business in Marine. Specialized expert in understanding multiple sub-Line of Business products and portfolio.
- Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market.
- Specialized understanding of regional / local Line of Marine/Cargo Business insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global elements.
- Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework as well as the insurance industry, intermediary operations, insurance laws and general business operations and a comprehensive knowledge of competition and marketing conditions.
- Knowledge of AzC and competitor marketing, sales, and UW strategies for assigned Marine.
- Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire.
- Ability to develop, implement and communicate strategies to address important trends or changes in the business.
- Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally. Ability to "sell" an improvised or prepared audience winning story.
- The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-today tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable. A willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role and the broader organization is expected.
