Staff Accountant- HYBRID CONTRACT
Mesa, AZVaco is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant to join the team of one of our top clients. In this role, you'll help ensure our financial statements are accurate, complete, and timely. You’ll work closely with teams across the company, providing valuable insights and supporting smarter decision-making through your accounting expertise. A big part of your focus will be on fixed assets—making sure they're tracked properly from start to finish and aligned with internal policies. This position is for a long term contract with the potential of permanent placement, with a HYBRID schedule and paying up to $80,000.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the full lifecycle of fixed assets—creating new assets in Construction in Progress (CIP), coding details correctly, placing them into service on time, and handling disposals
  • Partner with project leaders across departments to stay up-to-date on the status of asset-related projects and any events that may affect accounting
  • Use systems and automation tools to enter and maintain accurate asset data (company codes, store locations, descriptions, etc.)
  • Prepare journal entries and monthly account reconciliations for assigned accounts
  • Create and maintain schedules used in internal and external financial reporting
  • Support internal and external audit requests by gathering and organizing necessary documentation
  • Continuously look for ways to improve how we work, and help strengthen policies, procedures, and controls related to fixed asset accounting
Qualifications:
  • Solid understanding of fixed asset accounting principles, including the ability to distinguish between capital expenditures and operating expenses.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to interpret, troubleshoot, and update complex formula logic within spreadsheets.
  • Strong ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Composure under pressure, with excellent time management skills and a commitment to meeting tight deadlines—especially during month-end close and reporting cycles.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong active listening and problem-solving abilities.
