- Responsible for all production activities in assigned manufacturing departments
- Including but not limited to both tactical and operational activities such as: developing and implementing system-level solutions to optimize efficiency and resource utilization while increasing safety levels, minimizing costs, and maintaining quality standards
- Promoting a (CI) continuous improvement culture that includes Lean Six Sigma methodology, 5S, and Kaizen
- Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) across the production operations and ensure all projects are delivered in a safe manner, at the highest quality standards, while maintaining budgetary guidelines and strict deadlines.
- Proactively work with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, EHS, QC, etc. in the incorporating of best practices into the manufacturing environment
- Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Procurement, Planning, Engineering, and others to execute production schedules, allocate resources and capital equipment.
- Build a strong production team, providing a clear vision and engaging and motivating staff, creating a culture of (CI) continuous improvement, change, and growth.
- Monitor production requirements for assigned department(s) to ensure that all customer requirements are being met and that departments have 100% schedule attainment.
- Problem solving daily to ensure a smooth operation in manufacturing. Troubleshoot major and minor issues and assist in directing to obtain solutions for departments. Ensure that root causes are identified and a swift response with corrective action implementation is achieved in order to correct current issues and / or prevent future production related issues.
- Work closely with maintenance, manufacturing, and engineering to resolve critical machine downtime, scrap and quality related issues.
- Visually monitor the department(s) daily to ensure 5-S standards are always practiced and maintained.
- Initiate, lead, suggest, and mentor CIP (Cost Improvement) activities in department(s) to drive continuous improvements and to ensure safe production in the most efficient and cost-effective method possible. This includes the preparation and analysis of departmental documentation to ensure continuous improvement goals are met.
- Collect, analyze, and present / distribute manufacturing data as needed related to assigned departments.
- Monitor manpower including headcount compliance, attendance, morale, procedure compliance, positive recognition, and disciplinary actions are taken when required.
- Manage manpower to ensure that headcount is adjusted quickly and efficiently to ensure overtime reduction and idle time elimination.
- Attend and facilitate required meetings as necessary in order to effectively manage assigned areas. This includes daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly team member meetings in order to communicate business status / needs effectively.
- Communicates frequently with internal and external contacts on various issues in order to effectively manage assigned departments.
- Other duties as assigned
- Associate of Science degree in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing, or related discipline is preferred
- Hands-on experience in Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology - certification is preferred (GB/BB)
- Ideally, you have 4+ years of operations and manufacturing experience in a manufacturing environment. 2+ years supervising/managing production personnel
- Prior experience as a Manufacturing/Production Team Leader
- Results-oriented leader with a keen ability to plan and deliver against goals and deadlines
- Highly motivated self-starter who is collaborative with the ability to interact with all levels
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems
- Ability to pass background checks
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience with Google Docs, Sheets, etc.. and/or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general computer proficiency.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with exceptional attention to detail.
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
- Ability to comprehend financial reports including budgetary guidelines, manufacturing labor and material standards and project expenditures.
- Ability to delegate and assign work, problem solve, answer questions and evaluate performance.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and interact with maturity and professionalism with subordinates, peers, superiors and external organizations
- Meet objective goals assigned by Director of Manufacturing during quarterly performance coaching.
- Meet schedules to assigned manufacturing departments.
- Confer with engineering, warehousing, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.
- Working expectations: list such as stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee will be subject to prolonged standing. The employee must be able to manipulate and assemble small parts.
