This role drives cross-functional collaboration to conduct comprehensive risk analyses, develop mitigation strategies, and integrate risk management into planning processes. Serving as a key advisor to leadership, the Project Manager ensures compliance with legislation and policy, monitors emerging risks, and delivers actionable insights through qualitative, quantitative, and financial impact assessments. By fostering risk awareness, enhancing tools and methodologies, and establishing performance metrics, this position safeguards departmental resources while strengthening resilience and operational integrity. - Serves as the Department’s Risk Assessment Project Manager.
- Works with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive risk mitigation plans, including risk reduction strategies, contingency plans, and risk acceptance criteria.
- Stays informed about legislation, court orders, and other public policy related issues that may have an impact on the Department.
- Continuously assess and refine the Department’s risk management processes and methodologies.
- Helps to prepare financial risk analysis related to pending legislation, court orders, and Department policies.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college preferably with courses in business administration or public administration.
- Requires four (4) years of administrative experience in public or private service organization.
- Prefers active Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or a Project Management Institute Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) certificate,
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience serving as a Risk Assessment Project Manager or similar role within a unit of government.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience in conducting risk assessments, risk modeling, and scenario analysis.
- Prefers thorough knowledge of staff utilization and employee motivation.
- Prefers extensive knowledge of project management policies and procedures.
- Prefers ability to develop, install and evaluate new and revised methods, procedures, and performance standards.
- Working outside of the normal schedule working hours is a condition of employment, and you may be required to work outside of the normal schedule. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Requires use of agency-supplied technology.
- Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non- State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non- State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
