S&ME is seeking Construction Materials Engineering Technicians of all experience levels to join our Construction Services team in Lexington, Kentucky. Whether you're just starting your career or you're an experienced technician looking for a new challenge, we want to hear from you!Your Role: Hands-On, Impactful, and Fast-PacedOur Construction Materials Engineering Technicians are essential to getting the job done right. From day one, you'll be in the field helping ensure that the materials used to build everything from restaurants to stadiums meet the right standards for quality and safety.Just starting out?   • Field & Lab Testing: Performing field and laboratory testing on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates.
  • Sample Collection & Prep: Collecting and preparing samples for analysis.
  • Data Interpretation & Reporting: Interpreting test results and preparing detailed reports.
  • Team Collaboration & Compliance: Working closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
What to Expect:With the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), this physically active job involves outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions. You'll be walking over rough terrain, standing for long periods (up to 12 hours), lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment, and safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites.Experience shifting work hours based on project needs and weather conditions, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half). Travel expenses (per-diem/lodging) are covered when assisting other offices.What We're Looking For:
  • All Experience Levels:
  • Associate Technician/Technician I: 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Technician II: 2+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
  • Technician III: 3+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
  • Technician IV: 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in overseeing and mentoring junior staff, a plus
  • Attention to detail and good communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
  • The understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travel
