Description:Shop Assistant/Mechanic HelperThis is a 12 month position, please see job description below:QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Dothan City Schools BOE.
  • Must work towards acquiring a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with “P” and “S” endorsements and be insurable for vehicle operation. Must obtain CDL by 6 months after employment if 21 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, ASE Certified preferred.
SALARY LEVEL: 16FLSA STATUS: Non-ExemptREPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor, Shop Foreman, and/or Certified Shop MechanicsTERMS OF EMPLOYMENTSalary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assist in the maintenance and repair of all vehicles.
  • Assist in the general cleaning and maintenance of fleet vehicles.
  • Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
  • Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
  • Model and maintain high ethical standards as stated in the Alabama Code of Ethics
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  • Participate successfully in assigned training programs.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Perform any other pertinent assignment by the Transportation Supervisor, Shop Foreman, and/or Certified Mechanics to assist in the efficiency and effectiveness of the Bus Shop.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:1. Skills in interpersonal relations and ability to communicate well with others.2. Knowledgeable in the areas of vehicle maintenance and repair.3. Demonstrates aptitude for successful completion of the assigned task.4.
