Senior Indirect Tax Analyst

- Research and verify tax rates and tax codes
- Assist and/or manage audits from states
- Stay up to date on current state and federal policies on taxation and be aware of any upcoming changes in tax law
- Analyze returns and communicates trends of inconsistencies to tax leadership
- Analyze, configure, and update tax software.
- Independently review contracts for indirect tax implications
- Assist with and/or implement automation efforts
- Mentor and train tax analysts
- Review, Prepare and file fuel excise, occupancy, sales and use, and other various tax returns across multiple taxing jurisdictions
- Resolve tax notices
- Amend prior returns to correct any past issues.
- Prepare and file appropriate refunds.
- Assist tax leadership with special projects.
- Assist and advise other departments within the company to prevent or resolve tax issues.
- Reconcile work papers as assigned.
- Make recommendations for improvement

- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Prelaw, or Paralegal Certificate preferred Juris Doctor and/or LLM in Taxation a plus
- Experience:
- Excise tax experience a plus
- Skills:
- Hard skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suit; operation of standard office equipment
- Soft skills: Strong verbal and oral communication skills; keen attention to detail; self-motivated; the ability to work closely with coworkers to resolve and correct tax issues
- Typical Physical Demands:
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard
