Histology TechnologistJob DescriptionThe Histology Technician is responsible for obtaining and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination, ensuring precise and accurate preparation for dermatopathologist review. This involves tasks such as grossing, fixation, cutting, mounting, and staining of tissue samples.Responsibilities
  • Accession, receive, and prepare tissue specimens.
  • Perform grossing and inking, if qualified.
  • Prepare media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions.
  • Process tissue through embedding, microtomy, staining, cryostat use, and freezing.
  • Label and prepare slides; perform quality control checks.
  • Examine slides under a microscope to detect abnormalities.
  • Maintain instruments, equipment, and work areas to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Log, file, track, and store specimens and slides systematically.
  • Maintain lab supply inventory and documentation, including QA/QC logs.
  • Adhere to compliance and training requirements.
Essential Skills
  • Histology expertise.
  • Experience in Immunohistochemistry.
  • Certification as HT (ASCP) or eligibility to sit for the exam.
  • Completion of a NAACLS-accredited histology program.
  • Associate's degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Fulfillment of CLIA Requirements, including 60 semester hours with specific coursework and lab training.
Work EnvironmentThe position operates in a new state-of-the-art pathology lab with cutting-edge technology. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $45.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
