Job DescriptionWe are seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team at Glacier Bay Lodge in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. This role is vital in providing clean and comfortable accommodations for our guests while also supporting laundry operations to maintain a steady supply of fresh linens and towels. Glacier Bay Lodge is a small 50-room lodge nestled in between coastal mountains, incredible fjords, and Alaska's Inside Passage and is a remote wilderness experience you don't want to miss. The only way to travel to us is by air or sea from Juneau to the friendly little town of Gustavus, your Gateway to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve.Celebrate the Centennial/100-year anniversary of this beautiful park while enjoying everything this remote park has to offer! Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training.Job Responsibilities1. Housekeeping DutiesClean and sanitize guest rooms, including making beds, vacuuming, dusting, and replenishing amenities.
Ensure bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned, restocked, and ready for guest use.
Handle special cleaning tasks such as deep cleaning or addressing specific guest requests.
Report any maintenance or safety concerns to management promptly.
2. Laundry SupportOperate washers, dryers, and folding equipment to clean and prepare linens, towels, and other textiles.
Sort, fold, and distribute fresh linens to housekeeping carts and storage areas.
Inspect items for damage or stains and ensure they meet quality standards before reuse.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room and equipment.
3. Guest and Team SupportRespond to guest requests for additional items or cleaning services with professionalism and efficiency.
Collaborate with the housekeeping and laundry teams to meet operational needs during busy periods.
Assist with inventory management of cleaning supplies and linens.
4. Compliance and StandardsFollow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including the use of eco-friendly cleaning practices.
Properly handle cleaning chemicals and equipment, adhering to safety protocols.Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous housekeeping or laundry experience preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Attributes: Dependable, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Working Conditions:
  • Flexible schedule, including availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
  • Comfortable working in a remote or semi-remote national park setting.
  • Ability to adapt to indoor and outdoor work environments in varying weather conditions.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing.
