- Understand full extruder function and enforce safe operating procedures.
- Maintain guards, blow plugs, pressure gauges, and emergency stops to ensure personnel safety.
- Monitor the relationship between temperature control and drive RPM; perform maintenance to maintain process control repeatability.
- Maintain downstream equipment to ensure continuous production line operation.
- Keep spare equipment in ready state for transfer to production as needed.
- Monitor color feeders and blenders; check accuracy and function per extruder, and submit samples to QC quarterly.
- Maintain sufficient blade and drive belt inventory for rotation and repair.
- Ensure grinders and shredders remain fully operational.
- Troubleshoot wiring systems in a variety of equipment.
- Trace electrical problems from circuit breaker to motor applications.
- Maintain air line distribution grid and pressure requirements.
- Install and maintain regulators, oil mist systems, and filter combos.
- Perform radiator and compressor maintenance.
- Maintain oil checklists for machinery and equipment.
- Inspect and replace hoses.
- Operate and maintain Tulsa Winder hydraulic systems (valve controls, oil pump, hoses).
- Understand water system layout (supply, drainage, chiller system).
- Perform small pump replacements and PVC plumbing work.
- Perform regular maintenance on loader hoppers, filters, and seal rings.
- Monitor vacuum and ratio side cylinder actions; replace before issues occur.
- Maintain silo piping and rail car unloader systems.
- Address issues with dock levelers, air supplies, and stretch wrappers.
- Perform minor forklift and clamp truck repairs.
- Unload railcars, maintain material segregation, and organize maintenance areas.
- Complete filter checklists for Monday startup.
- Monitor DC motor temperatures.
- Forklift and clamp truck operation and safety certification.
- Knowledge of basic electrical theory (AC/DC voltage, fuses, breakers, meters).
- Proficiency with tools, tap and die sets, measurements, and conversions.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, welding, plumbing, and fabrication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic electronics and mechanical design/drawing knowledge.
- Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs (PLC 5, SLC 500, MicroLogix, Compact/ControlLogix), PanelView HMI, and various Remote I/O types.
- Strong understanding of plant systems and how they interact with production processes.
- Hands-on experience with extruders, auxiliary/reduction equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and shipping equipment.
- Experience applying 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles is an asset.
- Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and manual handling of tools and equipment.
- Lift/move up to 25 lbs regularly; occasionally up to 75 lbs.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments with loud noise, moving machinery, and temperature variations.
- Required PPE: safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection.
- Work near moving mechanical equipment and in varying environmental conditions.
