
Respiratory Therapist

- Provides respiratory care to include diagnostic testing, oxygen and medication delivery, bronchial hygiene, arterial/capillary blood gas draw and analysis, advanced airway, and life support.
- Patient assessment including the ability to monitor labs, hemodynamics, and radiology findings. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individual patient care appropriate to the age of the patients.
- Calibrates, cleans, sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots all patient related equipment and instruments. Assembles and stores cleaned equipment.
- Participates in in-house educational in-services inter and intradepartmental as well as attending outside seminars and workshops, as requested by Manager.
- Participates in various intermittent department tasks including, but not limited to, audits, quality assurance, statistical record keeping, patient charting and other special projects as specified by Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Accredited Program Required: Respiratory Care Program. 2-year AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program or approved alternative education as outlined in the state regulatory requirements
- Required: Must pass the NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist exam within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum of 2 years Preferred: Experience in acute care as a Respiratory Therapist
- Minimum of 1 year Preferred: Experience in a pulmonary function lab and
- Preferred: Experience in ICU, Pediatrics, or Obstetrics
- Required: Respiratory Care Practitioner - Washington
- Required within 6 months: Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Required: Basic Life Support
- Proficient with MS Office applications. (Required)
- Must be able to set up, operate, and troubleshoot all respiratory or pulmonary function related equipment, as applicable, in a quick and efficient manner. (Required)
- Must be able to quickly assess acute, critical care situations and respond with a decisive and appropriate course of action. (Required)
- Good time management skills. (Required)
- ACLS and BLS required at time of hire
- NRP certification must be obtained within a standard grace period from hire or transfer, as specified in the PeaceHealth Policy Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements, or upon hire.
- PALS certification must be obtained within a standard grace period from hire or transfer, as specified in the PeaceHealth Policy Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements, or upon hire.
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Lifting (non-patient)/carrying occasionally up to 25 lbs.
- Push/Pull: 1-25 lbs. of force occasionally (i.e., moving equipment).
- Stooping/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling occasionally.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting or in office environment.
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
