Overview:Looking for a developer with the following experience:IBM Mainframe CobolLife InsuranceSQLMath SkillsJava or a willingness to learn it Responsibilities:As an experienced Systems Analyst at Sammons Financial Group within our Corporate Markets business unit, you’ll work with a team of mainframe and mid-tier developers to help lead our efforts to support and maintain our legacy administration system while working towards a modernization of our administration system. We strive to provide solutions that will position Corporate Markets for the future and maintain the great customer service our customers are used to and expect.This team supports all aspects of BOLI, COLI and PRT(Pension Risk Transfer) within our Corporate Markets business unit. The current applications lean heavy on legacy technologies such as COBOL, JCL, VSAM, Informatica, etc. Future vision includes improving and modernizing these systems to meet the changing demands of our customers by modernizing the admin system using Java and a modern database.Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do in this role:
  • Develop high quality applications for our business team
  • Identify and propose strategies around technical problems affecting the business, communicate standards, and get consensus on solutions
  • Collaborate with purpose. Work closely within your development team, architecture, and business partners to determine how to make our software even better
  • Take on tasks of increasing complexity, learn quickly, and make steady progress to make improvements based on stakeholder feedback
  • Solve interesting and complex problems to create a positive customer experience
  • Continuously improve both yourself and the systems you are working on
  • Understand how work fits into the larger strategy
Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree with a preference in a science, technology, engineering, or math related field or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years software development experience
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills
  • Experience in mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL
  • Desire to learn new technology and continuously grow
  • Basic leadership and presentation skills
