- Research and identify trends for fit and garment construction techniques; analyze competitors
- Partner with Design, Merchandising and supports design and merchandising process by partnering with the Design, Product Development and Production to collaboratively build category assortment plans that fit with established cost structure(s), based on garment construction, fabric costing and consumption, etc.
- Manage implementation of consistent size and fit standards, grade rules and tolerances, construction and quality standards, standard pattern blocks and tech pack templates; carry out standard procedures for working with Design, Product Development, Production and vendors/suppliers.
- Partner with Production and Quality Assurance to carryout quality assurance protocols; manage problem solving and negotiations, as necessary
- Manage development of technical designs for category and ensure on-time execution of complete, vendor-ready technical specification packages; review all styles, fits, construction and specs as they relate to feasibility, costing and appropriateness for brand; Ensure consistent fit for brand(s) across seasons and categories
- Partner with Design, PD, Production and Sales to drive execution to time-and-action calendar
- Manage category fit sessions to ensure final fit, quality and construction meets standards; manage communications with vendors to set and ensure execution of standards; ensure tracking of fit, PP and top of production (TOP) samples
- Daily communication and follow up with factories and suppliers
- Contribute positively to team dynamic and manage up where necessary
- Attract, develop and retain talent
- Monitor and evaluate performance of individuals and team
- Experience and understanding of apparel manufacturing in Men’s, Ladies and Kids underwear
- Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented; highly detail oriented and meticulous
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, balance creativity with technical capability, and interpret design sketches for tech packs
- Expert knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, silhouettes, color ways, sewing techniques, fabrication and trim; familiarity with print design and manufacturing
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 - 7 years experience in technical design of apparel; significant relevant experience in category
- Expert in Microsoft Office, Adobe products, CAD, PLM and Mac computers
- 3D fitting software knowledge and browsewear
