- Assisting the lead Ecologist/Wetland Scientist in performing stream, wetland, wildlife habitat assessments, and other ecological surveys.
- Assisting ecological leads with processing field data and development/originating ecological assessment reports and utilization equipment such as tablets and GPS units.
- Assisting with coordination of various governmental agencies regarding ecological survey protocols, reporting standards, or endangered and threatened species coordination.
- Reviewing desktop information to complete environmental impact assessments.
- Working with the team leads to become familiar with our field survey equipment, data forms and other data collection and reporting tools.
- Assisting in preparing permit applications and other technical information.
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer/scientist.
- Uses computer software as a tool for data management and calculations.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Local travel is likely and U.S travel possible and project dependent.
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Biology, or related field.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
- General knowledge of basic environmental sciences.
- Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.
- OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
- Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.
- Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner.
- Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.
- Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently, both in an office environment and in the field.
- Ability to travel locally, including occasional extended travel.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
- The position requires fieldwork, and the candidate must have reliable transportation and be able to travel overnight.
- Clean driving record and a valid driver’s license is required.
- Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
- Travel is required for this position. Candidates will be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record screening upon hire.
- This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in New York and New Jersey. The selected candidate must be available to work in New York and New Jersey on a scheduled basis
