
BJC Independence Center - Residential Services Community Support Specialist

- Shift information: 8 AM – 4:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
- Clients: Independence Center clubhouse Mental Health/Behavioral Health members
- Team Dynamic - two part time residential technicians, Residential Supervisors, a nurse that is assigned to our residential program, clients with Major Mental Illness living in one location which is an apartment building in Maplewood owned by Independence Center
- MUST HAVE for this position – reliable vehicle with insurance, class E drivers license (you will be transporting clients in your own vehicle) , communication, interpersonal abilities, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong empathy, active listening, and conflict resolution are crucial for building trust and effectively addressing community members' needs.
- Job responsibilities: provides integrated, community-based support to individuals with behavioral health or substance use disorders and you will work directly with clients helping them navigate resources and develop support systems to improve their overall well-being.
- Common activities are driving clients to medical and psychiatric appointments, Food Pantries, Family Support Division office, etc.
- Completes timely documentation of services that clearly describe the need for the service, the intervention provided, the relationship to the treatment plan, the provider of the service, the date, the actual time and setting of the service, and the individual's response to the service.
- Contacting individuals and/or referral sources following missed appointments in order to re-engage and promote recovery/resiliency efforts. Supporting individuals in crisis situations.
