- High School Diploma or GED with some coursework in Child Development (College Level Preferred).
- Associate degree in Child Development, Psychology, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children.
- Current BLS certification (or certification within 90 days of hire) for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association.
- Provide a physically and emotionally safe, therapeutic, and healing environment for patients, families, and staff in the playroom.
- Set-up, supervise and clean-up developmentally appropriate activities in the playroom.
- Maintain supplies for playroom and Child Life Program.
- Assist with donations delivered to the department.
- Oversee cleaning of all toys and playroom according to departmental and hospital policies.
- Train and Supervise volunteers. Refer concerns regarding any volunteers to Child Life Manager.
- Create list and coordinate bedside activities for children and families to be made available to volunteers, students, and staff members.
- Effectively communicates any relevant observations on patients and families to other members of the health care team. Report concerns or issues.
- Monitor health and equipment needs in the playroom.
- Assure that the playroom is being used by patients and authorized family members or visitors only.
- Track and keep record of children and family members using the playroom.
- Keep materials organized in storage areas as determined by safety policies.
- Assist with community groups visiting the playroom and units.
- Perform other miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries to preserve the therapeutic relationship with patients and families.
- Demonstrate respect for sociocultural diversity.
- Be flexible and adaptable to change.
- Ability to take direction and receive feedback on work performance.
- Capable of working on multiple tasks and projects and to prioritize appropriately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Must possess the ability to interact with patients, family members, colleagues and Presbyterian employees in a manner that represents the Childrens Service Line.
- Needs to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
