Job Description:SummaryThis position plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and directs continuing medical education programs for MyMichigan Health providers credentialed through the medical staff. This position conducts medical staff educational needs assessments, develops educational goals and objectives, assists with preparation and submission of the Michigan State Medical Society annual report, reviews files to assure compliance with ACCME Accreditation requirements, and assists with preparation of the CME accreditation application. The CME specialist oversees the daily operation of the CME function including CME program logistics.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES(20%)* Conducts a medical staff educational needs assessment on an annual basis. Information is obtained via questionnaire, discussion at departmental medical staff meetings and at the committee level. The educational needs of service line managers, acute care professionals and the community’s services by MyMichigan Health are also assessed in collaboration with others.(20%)* Regularly develops educational goals and objectives. Develops and monitors the annual operating and capital budget for the continuing medical education function. Develops evaluations for all programs, providing feedback to speakers and CME committee members.(20%)* Assists with preparation and submission of the annual report to the Michigan State Medical Society which delineates the specifics of each CME program with attachments that document each program’s adherence to accreditation standards.(20%)* Reviews CME activity files to assure compliance with ACCME Accreditation requirements and assists with preparation of the accreditation application every four years.(10%)* Promotes and facilitates electronic delivery of educational sessions through the use of Panopto software.(5%)* Identifies sources of educational funding and the availability of grants on the local, state, and national levels. Assists with completion of the necessary grant application requirements and performs the necessary follow through procedures to secure these funds.(5%)* Participates in MyMichigan Health committees as required by Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinates and actively participates in CME committee meetings.Prepares and submits CME reports and financial statements in accordance with the medical staff bylaws.Develops and presents educational proposals along with recommendations to the medical staff. Responsible for CME program logistics such as reserving meeting space, distribution of invitations and collection of reservations, catering orders, speaker travel and meeting accommodations, and reserving/set-up of program technology such as microphones, video and audio.MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows. Required EducationEducation: BACHEquivalent Experience: Master's level degree (MHA, MBA, MEd or equivalent) is perferred.Education Specialization:Essential: trueOther InformationEXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:Two years experience with all functions associated with the educational development of professionals in an acute care setting required.Three years experience within an educational institution or health care organization preferred.Excellent planning, coordination, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated and able to function independently, typing and computer skills: proficiency with Power Point, Excel, Access, and Word required.Knowledge of audio and visual equipment (slide and overhead projector, VCR, LCD projector, lap top computer).Three years’ experience within an educational institution or health care organization preferred.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
