Contribute to 850 cardiac surgeries annually at a nationally recognized hospital.Responsibilities:Travels outside the OR suite to assist with placing patients on ECMO or other mechanical assist device.Provides age and developmental appropriate care to patient population served.Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients.Assists Physician with appropriate instruments during surgery. Assures accountability for proper counts of instruments and supplies during surgery. Maintains sterile environment according to MHS policy.Demonstrates proper sterile technique during procedure. Handoff to other crew members.Demonstrates accuracy and appropriate handling, labeling, and hand off to nurse of all specimens and cultures according to MHS policy. Verifies name and quantity of specimen with Physician.Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Responds quickly to changes in patient condition, surgical plan and adjust instruments accordingly. Collaborates with perfusion and anesthesia. Requires working long hours, including evenings, weekends and on call shifts.Required Work Experience: Memorial Regional Hospital: One (1) year of Cardiac/Vascular OR experience required.Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital: One (1) year of Surgical Technician experience required.
