As a Journeyman Diesel Mechanic, your main job will be to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipmentlike trucks, trailers, and heavy machinery. Youll be working on everything from engines and transmissions to brakes, suspensions, exhaust, and electrical systems. Youll use a variety of tools, including diagnostic software, hand tools, and power equipment, to identify and fix problems. Some jobs might be simple, like oil changes or replacing brake pads. Others could involve complex engine repairs or rebuilding major components. A big part of your day will also include preventative maintenancemaking sure vehicles stay in top condition to avoid breakdowns and costly repairs down the line. Youll follow maintenance schedules, complete safety inspections (like DOT checks), and keep detailed records of the work you do.
Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience as a mechanic
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Proficiency with various shop equipment
- Personal tools
- A clean driving record
