
Supplier Quality Engineer

- Support plant production by identifying and/or reacting to non-conforming supplied parts with the goal of minimizing production downtime resulting from supplier escapes
- Issue, track and assist with the timely closure of 8D corrective/preventive action process
- In support of supplied part changes and new part introduction, evaluate supplier PPAP submissions for acceptability
- Conduct supplier quality audits (qualification/problem solving/continuous improvement)
- Assist with the implementation of Pro-Cert / Quality improvements at key suppliers
- Lead training initiatives on quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, Process Auditing, etc. for both supplier and internal resources
- Track and report supplier performance in the form of SPPM
- Provide on-site guidance and coaching to key component and branded product suppliers to drive improvements in SPPM, OTD and warranty costs
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure the products or services rendered meet or surpass the required internal quality KPIs and specifications as well as any applicable external and government regulations
- Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria
- Provide support in the analysis and investigation of faulty supplier products and services as well as drive solution plans to completion by working with a cross functional team including supplier quality, product engineering, sustaining engineering, research engineering, and operations.
- Utilize continuous improvement principles to propose and implement changes to existing processes aimed at streamlining and improving overall performance while maintaining cost controls, creating cost effective use of resources, and ensuring quality
- Bachelor’s
- 3+ years of experience in a quality role
- 1+ years of experience within a unionized, manufacturing environment
- Quality and/or Lean Certifications a plus
- Excellent communication skills: candidate must be comfortable providing briefings at all levels of management
- Ability to influence decisions downstream and upstream
- Solid understanding of lean principles to effectively create, implement and monitor process improvement initiatives
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to effectively lead and team with multiple functional groups to reach a common objective
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner
- Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office Applications
