Summary:The key role of this position will be to perform electrical work for generators and related electrical type work. Your work will primarily be generator-related installations & service, but you will also assist with other electrical jobs as needed. The position will require someone who is well organized and can manage multiple ongoing projects and tasks and has good communication and customer service skills. The person in this position is someone with strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently. This position will include the physical demands of working in tight spaces, heights, adverse weather conditions, lifting heavy equipment while ensuring safe working conditions.Required Experiences:
  • 1-3+ years of experience in generator maintenance, repair, or installation
  • Experience with diesel, gas and propane generators (residential, commercial, or industrial)
  • Familiarity with load bank testing, control panels, and troubleshooting electrical/mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of residential & commercial electrical equipment, cabling, and installation methods
  • Knowledge & experience reading and installing per project plan sets and electrical diagrams
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Technical or Vocational training in electrical or mechanical fields (preferred)
  • Certifications (often preferred or required):
  • EPA Certification (for handling refrigerants)
  • Electrical Certification or Journeyman License (if working with wiring)
  • OEM Certifications (e.g., from Generac, Cummins or Kohler)
  • Demonstrates time management, schedule coordination, and inventory management
  • Experience using technology, software, mobile apps, and computers
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair engine and generator malfunctions, control and monitoring systems, and fuel, exhaust, and cooling systems.
  • Proficiently use multimeter and diagnostic tools, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Actively learning and training on new equipment to improve our overall quality of work and installation efficiency.
  • Following safety procedures and NFPA/OSHA standards.
  • Complete service calls and troubleshoot electrical related issues with an understanding of wiring schematics and electrical diagrams.
  • Diagnose system issues, recommend equipment replacements, necessary repairs, and assist with completing service work orders.
  • Willingness to travel locally or regionally for service calls, on-call work, weekends or overtime as directed by the supervisor.

Physical Demands:
