SLU, which also has a campus in Madrid, Spain, is recognized for world-class academics, life-changing research, compassionate health care, and a strong commitment to faith and service.JOB SUMMARYThe Aviation Mechanic inspects, repairs, and maintains aircraft to ensure they meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESConducts pre-flight and post-flight inspections; conducts the inspection, overhaul, or repair of aircraft, engines, propellers, appliances, or components thereof in accordance with current and applicable federal aviation regulations (FAR), manufacturer's specifications and recommendationsPerforms scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft systems including airframes, engines, landing gear, hydraulic systems, and avionicsDiagnoses mechanical and electrical issues, determine necessary repairs, and replace defective partsInforms the Shop Inspector or Chief Inspector of all unsafe or unairworthy conditions discovered while conducting the inspection, overhaul, or repair of any article or component thereofMaintains the immediate work area in a clean and orderly mannerMaintains accurate maintenance records in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company policiesUses diagnostic tools and specialized equipment to test aircraft systemsComplies with all safety protocols and regulatory standardsPerforms other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and FAA regulationsDetail-orientedProblem-solving skillsVerbal and written communication skillsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentationPhysical ability to work in confined spaces, lift heavy parts, and stand for long periodsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or the equivalentFederal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification in Airframe & Power-plant (A&P) MechanicsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAssociate's degree in business administration, management, or aviationSalary/Benefits:Salary starting between $46,720 - $50,000 (salary commensurate with experience) plus benefits including vacation and sick leave, health/dental/vision/life insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and match, tuition remission, employee assistance program and wellness program.FunctionMaintenance WorkerScheduled Weekly Hours: 40Saint Louis University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
