Community Planner (Entry-level)

- Develop planning studies, illustrations, and reports to support new and updated plans, programs, and regulations.
- Assist in evaluating development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes and planning principles.
- Support community engagement efforts, including field evaluations, engagement events, and feedback collection.
- Prepare visually-engaging graphics and materials for meetings and events which you will attend.
- Write narratives and assemble planning documents that communicate design intent and strategic goals.
- Contribute to marketing proposals and other planning-related tasks.
- Strong visual & graphic communication skills including analysis and diagramming
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Foundational knowledge of city and regional planning, urban design, and consensus-building across diverse stakeholders.
- Basic understanding of planning principles in areas such as land use, transportation, housing, historic preservation, or economic development.
- Research and data collection skills, paired with creative problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Comfort facilitating both in-person and virtual public participation activities.
- Familiarity with Adobe Create Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with GIS, AutoCAD/Revit, SketchUp, and Bluebeam, preferred.
- Active participation in professional organizations such as the American Planning Association, preferred.
