- A visionary leader to join the Computational & Systems Biology group within the Gastrointestinal & Inflammation Therapeutic Area Unit and play a pivotal role in our mission to deliver innovative therapies for patients.
- An expert in translational bioinformatics who will apply advanced computational biology, multi-omics integration, and AI/ML strategies to support clinical development, biomarker strategy, and mechanistic insights into treatment response and resistance.
- A strategic collaborator who will partner with clinical development, translational medicine, and discovery teams to define and execute biomarker strategies and analytical plans. This includes leading multiple clinical-stage projects, acting as a senior scientific consultant, and managing matrixed project teams.
- A proactive innovator to lead internal and external collaborations, develop cutting-edge analytical strategies, and support data-driven decision-making across the clinical development continuum.
- As Director, you will lead translational bioinformatics efforts aligned with the IBD strategy, ensuring scientific excellence and strategic execution across the portfolio.
- Lead the strategic utilization of high-dimensional datasets, including multi-omics data from translational and clinical studies, to support the IBD strategy. This includes life cycle management study support, biomarker discovery, molecular differentiation, patient stratification, and drug combination strategies.
- Oversee data integration and network/pathway analysis to understand mechanisms of action, ensuring robust and insightful interpretations that guide clinical and translational strategies across the IBD portfolio.
- Direct the application of AI/ML tools and generative AI models for biomarker discovery, integrating findings with existing knowledge to advance translational medicine goals and enhance the impact of the IBD programs.
- Generate and test hypotheses to identify novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers, driving innovation and advancing our understanding of disease mechanisms in IBD and related immune-mediated conditions.
- Support and lead drug combination trials, leveraging bioinformatics insights to design and analyze studies that explore synergistic effects and optimize therapeutic outcomes within the IBD space.
- Lead and cultivate academic collaborations to expand scientific insight, validate translational hypotheses, and accelerate innovation in biomarker science and clinical development.
- Prepare and present comprehensive technical and scientific reports for both internal and external audiences, effectively communicating complex data and insights to stakeholders at all levels.
- Collaborate closely with project teams to influence experimental design, assay development, data generation, and analysis, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and scientific rigor.
- Lead due diligence efforts for external opportunities as needed, providing expert evaluation and strategic recommendations to support business development initiatives aligned with the IBD strategy.
- Design and execute research projects independently, in collaboration with translational scientists, contributing to multiple projects as a senior scientific consultant and managing early-stage matrix project teams.
- Foster internal and external collaborations, developing innovative analytical strategies and supporting decision-making in early-stage clinical trials, with a focus on advancing the broader IBD portfolio.
- PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 10+ years' experience , or
- Additionaly, experience with genetics, pharmacogenomics and Real-world Data is preferable
- Knowledge of drug development and experience in a matrix team environment
- Experience with AI/ML, statistical analysis, including regression analysis, multivariate data analysis, and mixed-effects modeling is preferred
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux, command line interfaces, and scripting/programming languages (R, Python) for multi-omics analysis
- Recognized expertise in translational Multi-omics and genetics discovery and development as demonstrated by publications, regulatory submissions and/or national or international presentations
- Excellent understanding of drug development, regulatory processes, and clinical development
- Strong leadership abilities and proven ability to lead a team within a matrix organization as well as work independently
- Strong analytical, oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
