*1. Coordinate work schedules and assignments of interpreters in SEDOL corresponding to the educational and communication needs of students.
*2. Coordinate and monitors educational interpreter coverage at school sites. Arranges interpreter coverage for district extracurricular activities.
3. Maintain records of service requested, provided and coordinated for a variety of needs (staffing, district data, staff needs).
4. Develop and maintain accurate record keeping systems as the needs arise.
*5. Perform all duties and responsibilities of the Interpreter classification, including:
A. Interpret in all academic situations including classrooms, assemblies and field trips as needed.
B. Interpret in all student service areas including library, health center, counseling center and administration as needed.
C. Interpret extracurricular activities including: sports, drama, music, clubs and school wide programs as needed.
D. Assess and understand individual student’s communication abilities and styles.
6. Establish schedules for all SEDOL interpreters to ensure that maximum coverage is achieved at all times.
7. Work as a point of contact for all interpreters in the case of absences and changes in daily schedules.
8. Provide interpreting coverage for absent interpreters at all SEDOL sites and coordinate outside coverage through SEDOL’s substitute list, contractor interpreters or outside agencies, if unable to fill from within.
9. Provide interpreting services for Deaf staff during meetings, trainings and other SEDOL related activities at all SEDOL buildings.
10. Provide interpreting services for general education staff and related services personnel as needed (example, ELL).
11. Serve as the educational interpreter liaison for IEP meetings. Will work with educational interpreter team to gather feedback and provide reports for IEP meetings.
12. Develop, present and maintain records of workshops for interpreter continuing education. Provide workshop and educational resources for educational interpreters throughout SEDOL and their member districts.
13. Work with DHH Teachers to provide inservices to general education teachers on how to work with an interpreter and communication strategies used with Deaf/hard-of-hearing students.
*14. Work with local sign language interpreter training programs to cultivate and bring in more qualified interpreters to the SEDOL program.
*15. Provide administrative support to Principal and Assistant Principal.
16. Observe and evaluate sign language interpreters and provide feedback to enhance their professional practice.
17. Develop, disseminate and coordinate documentation to be used by SEDOL interpreters as needed to support their jobs and maintain the services as dictated by the IEP.
