Keep reading.The Ski & Ride Junior Instructor is a job designed for applicants 14+ years old. We provide our guests high-end experiences in a winter mountain environment. In our department we deliver this through the vehicle of skiing and riding. The most important aspect of the job is to provide a fun, memorable experience that is enjoyable from start to finish. The role of the Junior Instructor is to help Instructors guide our guests (mostly in the 4-12 year kids' program) along the way so that they have fun while progressing their skills and exploring their range of comfort and adventure. Ultimately, the best Junior Instructors provide an experience that keeps the guests dreaming about the next time they can come back to play with us.**No prior teaching experience is required - we'll train you!! You'll only be assigned to lessons and tasks you're comfortable with.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
  • Expected to work at least one day each weekend and as many days as you can during your school breaks.
  • Helps other instructors with large classes and, once experienced, leads classes of their own in the carpet area when appropriate.
  • Offers high-quality, professional instruction and experiences to the resort’s guests.
  • Attends in-house and/or PSIA/AASI training to continually improve upon and fine tune the guest experience.
  • Is a supportive and positive member of the entire Ski & Ride School team and resort staff.
  • Demonstrates that they are a part of a team by working outside of teaching and/or the department-specific tasks wherever help is needed.
  • • For example, junior instructors are able to help Ski Patrol with sweeping the mountain at end of day.
  • Maintains good, safe physical condition of both yourself and your equipment.
  • Attends all line-ups on days scheduled to work.
  • Receives assigned guests at level they are comfortable instructing.
  • Instructs guests in correct use of ski lifts, both surface and above ground.
  • Entertains guests as part of the planned activities and socializing with adults and kids.
  • Shows an understanding of the Ski & Ride School's three guidelines for customer service: Know where they’re coming from, make a plan for their success, and love them.

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out.
