Job Description:We are seeking a dynamic Director of Sales to lead and inspire our sales team, build strategic partnerships, and drive revenue across all market segments while honoring our tradition and positioning the resorts for long-term success.Pine Needles and Mid Pines are two of the most storied golf resorts in the country, located in the heart of North Carolina’s Sandhills region. With a proud legacy of hosting championship golf and delivering exceptional hospitality, both resorts are completing significant renovations to elevate the guest experience and reposition the properties for the future.We offer authentic Southern charm, world-class golf, newly refreshed accommodations, and memorable events across both properties — catering to golfers, leisure travelers, meetings, weddings, and social gatherings.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Director of Sales will oversee the sales efforts for both Pine Needles and Mid Pines resorts. This leader will craft and execute sales strategies to grow corporate, group, golf, leisure, and event business. With a strong understanding of resort sales, golf clientele, and post-renovation market positioning, the Director will lead a centralized on-property team supporting all facets of sales — including rooms, golf, and events.This is an on-site role requiring daily presence at the resorts to foster strong relationships with guests, clients, and the team, and to actively engage in the life of the propertiesJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSales Leadership
Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue in key segments: corporate, leisure, weddings, golf groups, meetings, and social events.
Lead, mentor, and motivate the on-property sales team to achieve individual and team goals.
Ensure the team is aligned on priorities, properly deployed by segment, and positioned to maximize productivity.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence within the sales department.
Market Positioning
Leverage the resorts’ renovations and rich history to position them competitively in the regional and national marketplace.
Build strong relationships with golf associations, tournament organizers, corporate partners, and local/regional businesses.
Act as a brand ambassador within the community and industry, showcasing the unique offerings of Pine Needles and Mid Pines.
Golf & Events Focus
Understand and cater to the specific needs of golf-centric clientele and events.
Partner closely with golf operations to package rooms and tee times creatively and profitably.
Oversee the sales and execution of tournaments, group outings, and golf-related events.
Revenue Management & Analysis
Analyze sales performance and market trends to identify opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.
Partner with revenue management and operations to optimize pricing, packages, and availability.
Monitor and manage departmental budgets and deliver on ROI expectations.
Post-Renovation Strategy
Position the resorts to capitalize on renovations, highlighting new amenities and refreshed spaces.
Develop marketing and communication plans to support the relaunch and continued awareness in the market.Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5–7 years of sales experience in hospitality, preferably in resorts, luxury hotels, or golf-centric properties, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding and passion for golf, the golf lifestyle, and related clientele.
Demonstrated experience successfully positioning a property after renovation or repositioning.
Proven track record of achieving revenue goals, building effective teams, and establishing strong client relationships.
Skilled in sales deployment strategies, goal setting, and incentive plan development.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
Must reside locally or be willing to relocate to Southern Pines area; this is an on-property role.
Proficiency with CRM, Microsoft Office, and sales tools.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong analytical skills relative to impact on hotel revenues
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong understanding of revenue management principles
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, focus on Excel, Word and Outlook
Ability to travel as needed
Must have flexible work hours that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
