- Design and implement robust industrial network architectures for PLC-based automation systems.
- Configure switches, routers, and firewalls within OT (Operational Technology) environments.
- Set up and maintain industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, OPC UA).
- Troubleshoot and diagnose network-related PLC communication issues.
- Collaborate with Controls Engineers to ensure proper PLC-to-PLC and PLC-to-HMI/SCADA communications.
- Implement VLANs, QoS, and segmentation strategies to enhance network security and performance.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards for industrial networks (ISA/IEC 62443, NIST, etc.).
- Document network configurations, topology diagrams, and change logs.
- Provide training and support for field technicians and maintenance staff.
- Support startup, commissioning, and integration of automation systems at customer or production sites.
- This position manages all employees of the department (6-8) and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in PLC systems and industrial networking.
- Hands-on experience with PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, or Schneider Electric).
- Proficiency in industrial Ethernet network configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Layer 2/3 switches, industrial firewalls (e.g., Hirschmann, Moxa, Cisco, Stratix IE), and wireless access points.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, SNMP tools, NetFlow analyzers).
- Understanding of OT/IT convergence, cybersecurity practices, and SCADA/HMI communication.
- CCNA, HIES, Industrial or equivalent networking certification.
- Experience with network redundancy protocols (e.g., RSTP, MRP, DLR).
- Knowledge of industrial safety systems and protocols (e.g., CIP Safety, PROFIsafe).
- Experience with cloud or edge connectivity in IIoT environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently on-site and remotely.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for commissioning and support.
