- The role involves critical materials testing and observation services on projects such as roadways, bridges, airports, large commercial developments, and remediation.
- The position requires performing field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
- Conduct testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and specified procedures.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Perform basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submission to the Project Manager.
- Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
- Demonstrate experience and proficiency in multiple areas of field testing and inspection or laboratory testing.
- Train lower-level technicians as needed.
- Lead activities of other engineering technicians in the laboratory or on larger field projects.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment.
- Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
- Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.
- Adhere to strict safety standards.
- Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent training and related experience.
- Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- ACI certification in one or more of the following: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Concrete Strength Testing Technician, nuclear density gauge, RRO, AWS, CWI, ASNT Level II.
- Proficiency in engineering framework and moisture testing.
- Ability to work independently and lead teams effectively.
