We are seeking a Litigation Support Specialist to support the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission (OSHRC) in Washington, D.C. I. Library Operations & Reference Support
- Assist in daily operation and management of the Agency's legal library
- Answer reference questions requiring complex legal and business research
- Provide access to information in print, digital, and subscription service formats
- Edit content and conduct cite-checking and topical monitoring
- Maintain physical and virtual library collections
- Conduct ongoing and annual review of the Agency's entire library collection
- Recommend retention or removal of holdings based on Collection Management Policy
- Identify deficiencies in collections and recommend new acquisitions
- Evaluate subscriptions and recommend renewals or cancellations
- Manage purchase requests for materials in all formats
- Issue and cancel user IDs for digital subscriptions and coordinate with vendors
- Conduct user training sessions on legal research tools and databases
- Advise staff on cost-effective use of traditional and digital information resources
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other databases
- Verify citations, pin cites, grammar, formatting, and legal principles in documents
- Support development of research starter tools and library guides
- Provide research assistance for special projects, including presentations and speaking notes
- Develop and maintain SharePoint and Office 365 platforms for legal research support
- Update library resources page, case index, Agency homepage, ALJ page, OEXD page, and specialty pages
- Provide orientation and training to new employees on research resources and digital platforms
- Develop and publish content on Work-Life programming in consultation with Agency staff
- Specialized knowledge and experience in legal and business reference services
- Proficiency in library and collection management, including federal guidelines and policy
- Strong working knowledge of Office 365 applications, particularly SharePoint
- Ability to perform complex legal research and provide training on legal research databases and tools
- 3-5 years of experience in legal research services
- 3-5 years in library and collection management
- Experience in managing legal or policy library collections, both physical and digital
- Experience in verifying legal citations, formatting, and document accuracy
- Experience in supporting federal agencies or legal offices
- Undergraduate degree required
