KyCAD would like to announce a new position in the capacity of Math Tutor for MATH 101: College Algebra, to be offered in Session 4, from January 12, 2026 – February 20, 2026. This position is open to Internal and External applications.Position Description:Under the direction of the Dean/VPAA, the Math Tutor would have the opportunity to aid students enrolled in MATH101: College Algebra.Schedule:This is a part-time staff position that requires regular, on-site availability prior to and during the scheduled course, working a set 4-hour/week schedule on Wednesdays from 1pm-5pm. Additional tutoring hours, up to 4 hours per week should be available per student request. The average workload is estimated at 4-8 hours per week in total during the contract period. Actual days and times of availability may be subject to change based on the needs of students and the institution.Compensation:This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) staff position, paid at a rate of $15.00/hour active from January 12, 2026 – February 20, 2026. The workload is estimated at 4-8 hours per week.Course Description:MATH 101: College Algebra3 creditsThis course introduces students to fundamental mathematical concepts such as inequalities, polynomials, linear and quadratic equations, and logarithmic and exponential functions.Tutor Responsibilities:
  • Maintain regular course attendance and bi-weekly check in with course instructor.
  • Assist instructor in reiteration of content related to the student learning objectives of the course.
  • Maintain records of student academic progress and inform course instructor of improvements and persistent challenges.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and, when appropriate, use the Academic Alert notification process.
  • Assess student work in a timely manner and communicate with faculty and academic support coordinator as needed.
  • Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving.
  • Develop and maintain healthy and positive working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and administration.
  • Embrace and enhance the college's culture to help ensure continued engagement, motivation, and drive.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree including college-level math courses.
  • May be substituted with work experience in a similar role or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Proficient in written and oral communication skills.
  • Evidence of tutoring experience or mentorship of college-level students.
  • Sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations.
  • Availability to work assigned schedule on-site.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
