The Kokomo Service Area seeks to hire a Cross - Cultural Consultant. As our multicultural population increases with the opening of local businesses, we have the opportunity to facilitate intercultural learning and focus on using cultural insights to help people understand others with the intention of creating positive outcomes, in accordance with the Ivy Tech mission.The Cross - Cultural Consultant will be deeply focused on strengthening the college and community's Korean/US cultural awareness through trainings, networking, events and workshops.We see this position as a critical one to continue our community reach and expand the availability of the college’s services and supports. This position will work directly with businesses and community members, in addition to Diversity, Equity and Belonging, Academic Affairs, Student Success, Ivy+ Career Link, and other campus departments.The Cross - Cultural Consultant will be responsible for training and educating staff, faculty and students about Korean culture. This person will work collaboratively with the community to integrate and bring awareness to the ever-changing cultural needs of the Kokomo Service Area by working with businesses and the Ivy+ Career Link team to develop community events, networking opportunities, workshops, and workforce development trainings among other things. The role will break down barriers through cross - cultural training to serve the local community and business needs.The Cross - Cultural Consultant will play a key role in facilitating intercultural learning and with a focus on using cultural insights to help people understand others with the intention of creating positive outcomes, in accordance with the Ivy Tech mission.The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, presentation or teaching skills, experience with developing cultural awareness in others.The ideal candidate must demonstrate flexibility and organizational knowledge of Ivy Tech, higher education and workforce landscape, and a passion for educational equity which are all critical for success.Major Responsibilities or Skills:Lead, coordinate, and facilitate presentations, workshops, trainings, and other educational modalities to expand inclusive leadership, cross cultural intelligence, and diversity development for intercultural Korean-US learning experiences.Manage adjunct faculty who will be teaching English as a second language courses, workforce customized trainings or other courses as it relates to cultural trainingDevelop new content and curriculum; create presentations and assessments to track and measure progressBuild strong, collaborative partnerships with local business leaders and community membersCollaborate with different functional areas of the College including Diversity, Equity and Belonging, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Services, Student Success, and Marketing to ensure goal alignment.Complete daily administrative and reporting activities including daily data entry for activities and engagements.Lead and guide employees to develop new skills, knowledge and abilities that will enhance their work and development through cultural trainingInterpret meetings while maintaining confidentiality: English to Korean, Korean to EnglishTranslate documents in both English and Korean languagesSchedule and organize meetings/events, develop and maintain agendasDevelop an expert understanding of intercultural learning conceptsAbility to apply experiential learning principlesCapability to implement the development of concepts and behavioral strategies via scenarios, specific events, and prior experiences of the participants.Strong facilitation skills and comfort with flexible and fluid training situationsComfort in facilitating external cultural consultations and presentations with local business leadersAbility to consult, listen and deliver pertinent information to guide, build and deliver relevant contentThis is not to be construed as an exhaustive list.
