Datadog's Event Platform is one of the core applications platforms on top of which Datadog products are built. It powers more than 50 Datadog products by ingesting above 200GB/s of data while offering high availability and low latency.We are seeking a hands-on technical leader to lead the Event Platform - Processing team. This team empowers product teams across Datadog to build reliable and cost-efficient data processing solutions with ease.This is a unique opportunity to make a broad impact by contributing to a core infrastructure team that supports over 50 internal teams. As the leader of this team, you'll manage both junior and senior engineers focused on delivering robust enrichment and transformation capabilities.   • Manage and mentor a team of talented engineers, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery while fostering growth, motivation, and engagement
  • Partner with product teams and stakeholders to evaluate use cases, prioritize platform capabilities, and ensure smooth implementation.
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence by participating in and supporting the team's on-call rotation.
  • Stay hands-on by reviewing code, troubleshooting critical issues, and stepping in to unblock the team when necessary.
  • Define and align quarterly goals with broader business and platform priorities.
Who You Are:
  • A strong and empathetic leader with experience in career development, performance management, and team growth

  • Deeply familiar with real-time data pipelines and experienced in operating distributed systems at scale
  • Comfortable with on-call responsibilities, including leading incident responses, writing postmortems, and driving long-term remediation
  • Proficient in one or more backend languages such as Go, Java, or Rust, and experienced with streaming technologies like Kafka, Flink, or Spark Structured Streaming
