Combined with the shared PMO services, Astraeus offers highly competitive labor rates to fulfill day-to-day contract operations.The Senior Network Engineer II will be part of a dynamic team that provides IT support, maintenance, operations, logistics, and engineering services to help ensure the secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of INL/A Management Information Systems. This role will provide network engineering support to the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics, and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A) in support of their missions to sustain the national security and economic interests of our nation.
Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and deploy enterprise-level networks, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
  • Manage and troubleshoot network routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF) to ensure efficient data flow and connectivity.
  • Develop and maintain cloud network architectures, integrating on-premises infrastructure with public cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Implement and manage SD-WAN solutions to enhance network efficiency and flexibility.
  • Collaborate with the security team to implement robust network security measures and protocols in accordance with the applicable Defense System Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and DoD guidance.
  • Utilize advanced tools to monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize network traffic. (SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, SD-Wan controllers)
  • Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and policies.
  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex network issues.
  • Mentor junior network engineers, providing guidance and knowledge sharing to enhance team capabilities.
  • Liaise with network hardware and software vendors to evaluate and procure new technologies.
  • Travel may be required for special projects. (CONUS, OCONUS)
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience:
  • Network engineering, with a focus on enterprise-level network design and management.
  • Network monitoring and performance tools. (SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, SD-Wan controllers).
  • Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Routers, Switches and/or Firewalls.
  • Cisco ISE or similar identity management services.
  • Relevant network certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, Cloud Related Certified Advanced Networking, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Secret clearance required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP, OSPF.
  • Proficiency in cloud networking (AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies and solutions is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of HAIPE technologies (TACLANES) and how to identify and troubleshoot issues associated with them is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience using ITSM and ITSM tools (i.e., ticketing systems), Microsoft Office products, Windows-based Operating Systems (OS), and Windows technology.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
