OverviewLingo Staffing is seeking a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Manager for a direct hire opportunity with a leading aviation services company in Indianapolis. This role oversees the operations, maintenance, and repair of ground support equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who has advanced through the mechanic ranks, values quality and process control, and can step into any role they supervise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of all GSE.
- Ensure equipment safety, reliability, and compliance with OSHA, FAA, and airport regulations.
- Troubleshoot issues and coordinate timely repairs to minimize downtime.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and inspection records.
- Mentor and supervise the maintenance team: hiring, training, and performance management.
- Drive a culture of safety through training, inspections, and process adherence.
- Track KPIs related to utilization, costs, and operational efficiency.
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships for parts, equipment, and service needs.
- Partner with procurement on sourcing parts and new equipment.
- Experience: 2+ years in a supervisory role or 10+ years as a mechanic with demonstrated career progression.
- Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Background in quality control and process improvement.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced airport environment.
- Work may involve outdoor environments, heavy machinery, and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, bend, stretch, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to visually inspect equipment and perform hands-on work.
- Travel required to local airports.
