We are seeking a driven, hardworking, pleasant individual to join our company as our Accounting Project Manager.To be successful as a project accountant, you should possess extensive experience in accounting, prior property management experience desired.Project Accountant Responsibilities:
  • Act as a partner to internal and external business teams by providing qualitative and quantitative accounting/financial oversight, supporting the shared responsibility of upholding the financial health and wellbeing of a portfolio of communities.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that will benefit the accounting team and the organization. Establish sound processes and policies as needed to ensure proper controls and efficient processes.
  • Act in mentorship role to junior associates on accounting team, providing technical and professional guidance/oversight to promote development and career progression.
  • Analysis of monthly financial statements
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, or annual reporting for internal purposes
  • Prepare monthly cash distributions and related reporting for investors and partners
  • Initiate monthly payments for debt service, owner distributions, etc.
  • Work with third party auditors on year-end tax and audit requests
  • Communicate with property owners and personnel as necessary
  • Support / collaborate with other departments on asset acquisitions, dispositions, monthly draws, and cash management needs
  • Work as a team player in evaluating and resolving complex financial issues and discrepancies, as needed
  • Lead and/or participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
Project Accountant Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, or similar.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred
  • Prior property management accounting experience desired
  • 2-5 years' experience as a project accountant, or similar.
  • Proficiency in electronic accounting systems, such as Yardi.
  • Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in accounting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ability to work with strict deadlines in a high volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as in a team environment.
