To protect your workforce, we are at your fingertips: internationalsos.comJob DescriptionThis is an on-call casual position responsible for responding to disasters in support of state and federal government efforts. The Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic may be deployed for periods ranging from 14 to 120 days to areas impacted by significant disasters across the United States and its territories. Compensation rates will vary depending on the specific disaster and location.The Paramedic is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct and indirect clinical care to patients. They will competently function as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient and community centered care. They serve as an advocate for the patient and their family and intercedes on their behalf by acting as a liaison for patients and their families with respect to their rights and beliefs. The Paramedic will utilize their expertise of evidenced based medical practice to manage unexpected and emergent situations, to mitigate and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses in a prompt and professional manner.Key Responsibilities
  • Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
  • Proactively and independently administer basic care, including but not limited to inserting catheters with blood specimen collection, urine collection and EKG’s, visual acuity, basic wound care, changing bandages or administering intravenous medications.
  • Assess and document patient’s vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, prescribed medications.
  • Establish observable and documentable interventions within protocols.
  • Report all changes in patient’s conditions to the medical provider.
  • Assist patients with basic care and activities of daily living, as needed.
  • Provides support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions.
  • Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
  • Restock clinical and provider areas once supplies are received.
  • Crosstrain to work within in the clinics, emergency room, and inpatient units.
  • On-call rotation schedule participation as needed.

  • Current and unrestricted Paramedic license from US State or Territory.
  • National Registry EMT-P certification to provide healthcare within scope of practice.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of paramedic experience.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS).
Physical Demands:
  • Work is normally performed in Austere conditions
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
  • US Citizen.
  • Current State License; National Registry Emergency Technician certification.
  • Live near a major airport
  • Be able to respond to site within 72 hours
  • Clear a Child Neglect and Abuse Check and other background requirements.
