Growing together.The role of Cloud Solutions Architect will be part of the Optum State Government Data and Analytics Architecture team. This role will be engaged on numerous projects to build, maintain, market, and sell Optum’s health care solutions to state government customers.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Architect, plan, and implement public cloud solutions in Azure and AWS that balance simplicity, standards, scalability, extensibility, supportability
  • Respond to RFP’s and write technical content in collaboration with a larger team of writers, solutions architects, and capture managers
  • Propose and implement secure configurations of public cloud workloads
  • Support product owners and drive engineering solutions following an “everything as code” strategy
  • Evaluate new cloud technologies and make substantiated recommendations for improving solution capabilities
  • Participate and lead solution design sessions with Delivery and Product teams who require a greater understanding of cloud technologies and analytics applications
  • Support the engineering of secure technology solutions that adopt DevSecOps and Cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) within the State healthcare industry
  • Mentor and support the development of other members of the team
  • Work with technology vendors to scope, architect, and price their technologies into our solutions
  • Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation by streamlining workflows and automating repetitive tasks
  • Evaluate emerging trends to drive continuous improvement and strategic innovation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Healthcare Solutions Architecture
  • 5+ years of planning and implementing Cloud solutions in a Government setting
  • 5+ years of Public cloud platform experience and designing and securing workloads in Azure
  • 5+ years of experience publishing engineering patterns or other reusable artifacts for cloud enablement
  • 5+ years of experience with health care data and security requirement relating to government programs
  • Solid communication skills, particularly in writing technical solution proposals to enable compelling solution narratives for new business pursuits
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with competencies in technologies such as Java, JSON, Python and Terraform
  • Experience with cloud-native database solutions such as Snowflake, RedShift, Synapse, etc.
  • Experience in application security or as a developer building secure applications
  • Understanding of authentication and authorization using cloud-native platforms
  • Proven track record at delivering software solutions as part of an agile team
  • Excellent communication, time/project management, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills

The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment.
