- Create and implement weekly lesson plans in accordance to the First Steps 4K approved curriculum and ensures lesson plans are developmentally appropriate and reflects observations and assessments of individual children and goals
- Engages constructively with individual children during actives and routines
- Adhere to the First Steps 4K guidelines
- Attend all required First Steps and Department of Social Services trainings and obtain required continuing education hours.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and creativity.
- Manage classroom activities effectively to ensure smooth transitions and engagement among students.
- Collaborate with parents, staff, and other educators to support children's development and address any early intervention needs.
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment that promotes health and well-being.
- Demonstrate effective listening, oral and written communication skills •
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by displaying professional behavior to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all students, coworkers, parents, supervisors and the public
- Follow all employer policies and procedures at all times
- Provide guidance and mentorship to assistant teachers and childcare staff.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in childhood development.
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education (if working towards a BS)
- Able to pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry background check
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in preschool or daycare settings is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and effective classroom management techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to create an inclusive classroom environment that respects diversity among students.
- Passion for educating young children and commitment to their overall well-being.
- Familiarity with care practices and preschool curriculum development is preferred.
- Strong background in behavior management techniques to support students effectively.
- Experience in promoting literacy education and physical education among young learners is highly desirable.
