- Short-term weather forecasting and monitoring of key weather elements (temperatures, precipitation, wind speeds, cloud cover/solar) that may impact power loads and generation.
- Generate daily communications on short and medium range weather forecasts.
- Medium-term forecasting of key weather elements that may impact market prices.
- Short-term power load forecasting at the ISO level for different regions across the US, including California, Texas, the Midwest and Northeast.
- Subseasonal and seasonal forecasting and analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science
- 0-3 years of forecasting experience
- 1-3 years of forecasting experience preferred
- Ability to clearly communicate critical weather information and risks in a timely manner
- Strong deterministic forecasting skills; not afraid to make a judgement call during a high impact weather event
- Ability to work under pressure during critical weather periods
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) to all levels of internal and external groups
- Ability to work independently and as a team member, set priorities, respond to changing demands from various sources
- Ability to field and complete wide ranging ad-hoc analysis and questions from all areas of the company
- Effectively communicate weather information in a concise manner to traders and management
- Maintain relationships with external vendors
- Knowledge of power load forecasting is a plus
- Knowledge of python, php, and other programming languages is a plus
