- Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
- Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.

- Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
- Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
- Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
- Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
- Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
- Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
- Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
- Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
- Utilizes all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Ensures safety of all customers.
- Maintains accurate and precise documentation. Accurately record verbal and telephone orders from physicians in the patient record.
- Communicates openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
- Participates in supervising student sonographers, training, and orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow, participates in quality and safety initiatives, acting as a department super user, participates in committees related to modality,
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Assist in transporting of patients.
- Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.
- Assists in clerical duties, such as, but not limited to, printing reports, scanning documents, and scheduling of patients.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
- Maintains well stocked and organized work areas.
- May be required to work at any Orlando Health facility.
- Assists with other departmental duties and responsibilities as needed.
- May be required to work afterhours and call shifts as needed.
- May be required to assist with contrast administration if pertinent to department.
- May be required to assist with intravenous (IV) insertion and removal for the administration of diagnostic contrast medication if pertinent to department.
- Maintain current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
- Must maintain one of the following:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS);
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); or
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or
- Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Venous Doppler Upper and Lower Extremities, and Arterial Duplex Upper and Lower Extremities. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.
Must demonstrate competency in routinely performing at least TEN of the following Echocardiography and/or Vascular ultrasound exams pertinent to department: 3-D, Strain, Exercise Stress Echocardiography, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography, TAVR, Mitral
Clip, Complex Valve, Watchman, Post Processing, Contrast Studies, Agitated Saline Studies, Transesophageal (TEE), Surgical TEE, Complex Cardiac Shunts, Pericardiocentesis, Single Ventricle, TOF, AVC, TGA, ECMO Cannula Position, Complex Heterotaxy, ASD Septostomy, PDA Closure Cath, Venous Insufficiency, Visceral, Segmental Physiology Upper Extremity, Access Grafts, Hemodialysis Access, Venous Ablation Procedures, Ultrasound Guidance, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Temporal Artery, Transcranial Imaging, Transcranial PFO Evaluation, Transcranial Emboli Detection, Transcranial Vasomotor Reactivity or Thoracic Bow Hunter’s Syndrome.
