HOURLY RATE: $16.00
POSITION AVAIABILITY: August 2025 - May 2026PRIMARY PURPOSE/POSITION SUMMARY:As a member of the Office of Undergraduate Admission, the Campus Events Intern will provide support with planning, preparation and implementation of campus recruitment and admitted student events. The Campus Events Intern will also assist in creating memorable, impactful, and extraordinary event experiences for prospective students and their guests.EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL DOMINICAN EMPLOYEES:To support the University's mission of preparing students to pursue truth, to give compassionate service, and to participate in the creation of a more just and humane world.JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Event Planning & Execution
  • Effectively delegate and ensure timely completion/quality control of event materials prepared by student assistants in the office (folders, totes/drawstring bags, giveaways, fun experiences, etc.).
  • Assist the Campus Experience Manager and Event Coordinator with pre/day-of/post event support and programming - specifically, registration list, campus partners, etc.
  • Organize and assemble supply carts to support designated event areas: check-in, campus tour, presentations/sessions, parking A-frame signs, floor banners, special experiences, etc.
  • Maintain inventory levels and organization of giveaways in 'The Pit'.
  • Assist Campus Experience Intern with pre-event training workshops for Student Ambassadors - specifically helping ambassadors understand their role in the event /play-by-play.
  • Maintain and organize event materials within Microsoft Teams folders and ensure accurate scheduling and updates on The Band events calendar.
  • Update print event evaluations and prepare a summary of the data for the leadership team - specifically identifying ways that we can improve the event experience.
  • Collect digital post-event feedback from Admission team (Ambassadors and Counselors) as well as campus partners.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with campus partners and student organizations who participate in Admission events (Athletics, Campus Activities Board, Center for Cultural Liberation, University Ministry, etc.).
  • Participate in research and development to propose new and exciting event opportunities.
Office of Undergraduate Admission
  • Lead high-impact campus tours and engage with prospective students and guests.
  • Support the Welcome Center and the campus visitor team with daily and group visits.
  • Create energy and excitement for the student ambassadors/assistants in their work as key Dominican representatives to campus events as the student voice and perspective in the recruitment and admission process.
  • Serve as liaison between student ambassadors/assistants and professional staff.
  • Assist Campus Visit Intern and Campus Experience Intern with Ambassador trainings as well as making sure Ambassadors are up to date on the latest and greatest Campus Tour information.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Attend regular staff meetings.
  • Attend regular 1:1 meetings with supervisor.
  • Maintain a minimum of 10-15 hours per week.
  • Other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work the full-term of the position (a full year from fall-to-spring semester).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be energetic, positive and customer service centered.
  • Experience in event planning, hospitality, and high-quality customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of Dominican University and the student body.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work in a relationship-centered, culturally responsive manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to effectively learn and use departmental technology to support communication and projects.
  • Strong self-motivation, tact, diplomacy, and a clear, courteous, and professional manner when dealing with Ambassadors, Guests/Visitors, and the Dominican University community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the work of Undergraduate Admissions and desire to share in the mission and goals of the department.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends and attend all 6 major Admission events: Discover DU (November, February, and April) and Admitted Student Day (February, March, and April).
  • Preferred proficiency in Spanish - reading, writing, and speaking.
Education and Experience:
  • Must be a current student at Dominican University.
  • Must be eligible for US employment.
